Really? “Fat cows?”

Fatcow

One of the prophets got away with calling women, “fat cows” in his day.

He must have been pretty upset because that was quite the slanderous tone to take.

It seems that the wealthy women of the day were compared to fat cows because they were pampered and well-fed.  These women selfishly pushed their husbands to oppress the helpless in order to supply their lavish life-styles.

Since I am a guy and not a gal, I have only this comment to make.

I have seen guys in ministry get messed up because of the women in their lives who desire money more than ministry, comfort more than prayer, the things of this world more than the things of God.  Since our Christian culture in ministry does not condone divorce, the men cater to the desire of their wives and eventually give up ministry all-together to pursue a “career.”

It is my hope that one day God will give me wisdom on how to advise men in this position, because as of today, I do not have the answer.

  1. Evan, I think the key is found in Ephesians 5. Men are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and died for it. The key to unlocking the mystery of husbands and wives and marriage in general….is in understanding who Christ is, how he loved the church, and died for it. For a long time, I didn’t see a whole lot in this verse, but then God showed me that there was far more to it than what I thought, and it changed my life.

I had to laugh at how you nailed this one. I have seen this take place…many, many times…and in my own heart some years ago — a pursuit after things that don’t matter. This happens not only in ministry but everywhere in our worldly culture. May God’s love overcome in the lives of all who are led astray by the deceitfulness of riches. For having gained all what good will it do to then forfeit one’s soul? Prayers for marriages…prayers for hearts to seek FIRST His Kingdom and righteousness.

evanlaar, Church has become a business. The so called shephard of today are materialistic and preaching the so called prosperity message. So the first lady of the church have to be well dressed in the lasted designer labels. Everyone is about the love of money. There are many preachers that teach the only way to get away from the poor is not to become one of them. God wants all his kids to be prosperous. This is a very dangerous message in my humble opinion. I fear they will have to give an account for this.
