It starts with confession
There are many ways that confessions start.
I ran across a situation today that was worth sharing with you. There was a confession of a son stealing money from his mother. He confessed it because she started to build curse upon curse over the head of the would-be thief and it reached such a point that it produced enough fear that maybe one of these curses would come true that he blurted out his confession – he was the one who had stolen the money. When the mother blessed him for confessing – only then did he go and get the money to give it back to her.
Maybe this is an indication of the times we are living in the philosophies that come and go according to culture. I think that at the end of the day it really depends on what we want from life.
What do you want from life?
If we simply want to exist for the moment, if we want to get through the moments of the day, the circumstances of the day, because the moment is all that is important to us, because the moment is the moment, we are living in the light of that moment, then our decisions are going to be shaped by our desires. Our decisions are going to be shaped by our environment. They are going to be set by the times; they are going to be set by the culture of the day.
However, if truth never invades our life and changes it, then we are among the dead. If we want our life to have purpose, if we want our life to have significance and meaning, then our life must be shaped by truth–not by the culture of the day, not by the philosophies of the day, but our life must be shaped by truth.
Confession is what happens when you are staring at truth. Welcome to a world of purpose, significance and meaning!
