Has truth and righteousness perished, evil triumphs and prospered?

gold-sun-shineThis is a thought and an attitude that will prevail during the last days, before Christ‘s return.  What surprises me and maybe it shouldn’t, is how over the years of war, famine, pestilence and pain, the people complain how much evil seems to rule, to have a hand over good, maybe to the point that the Devil is the real ruler of this world and that God is just a spectator unable to do anything.

Yet, in truth they are right.

They have rejected God and they have desired to go their own way and do their own thing and reap what they have sown – and I am sure God weeps over this, gets angry about it, is moved by the martyrs and the blood that is shed by them as they try to live for Him in this world of so much pain.  For even they try to bring peace and hope with the message of salvation and they and their message are consistently rejected.

It seems that people really never have changed.

As I reflect on the OT people, they are no different from today.  As I reflect on the empires of the NT, they are the same and when I contemplate our world today, especially Middle East and Africa and Asia, the pain of the people put on them by the evil of a few, is hardly containable and healable.

So I conclude, as maybe the people of God in times past, that God has a plan, a timetable.  A time for peace, a time for war, a time when people turn to Him and a time when they turn away, a time for evil people to rise and for them to fall, a time for righteousness and truth and a time for evil to reign and have the upper hand…

May I, no matter what time I find myself in, be found searching for Him, desiring to follow Him, willing to die for Him, in sickness or in health, whether in poverty or blessing.

But it seems to me people choose to believe the lies of the father of lies, over the truth of God’s word. Therefore you reap what you sow. They have become reprobate in their mindset. I pray for the nation and myself before Christ returns to get it right. But God gives people free will to do as they choose. And some choose death.

    • yes, and in its absolute form that sounds good until they realize they will reap what they have sown – then they scream for the love of God to take affect – not because they realize their separation from God but are afraid only of the consequences – so very sad that Satan has blinded their eyes

Yes i like how you concluded that there is a time for the good and evil in the world to come to and end. It is like in the book of Ecclesiastes. There is a season for all things good and evil in the world to have it’s cycle. Thanks evanlaar. Good teaching. It was a blessing to me.

  3. Your post brings to mind II Peter 3. Here are a few of the verses:

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation…

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men…

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…
